College of Creative Studies

The College of Creative Studies (CCS) is a college within the University of California, Santa Barbara, founded as an experiment in alternative education by Marvin Mudrick in 1967. CCS specializes in independent study in the arts and sciences and has programs in art, biology, chemistry, computer science, literature, mathematics, music composition and physics. All of its programs and faculty teachers are considered world-class and CCS has educated a host of distinguished alumni. Current students include Loie Hollowell, inventor of the piandroid and composer Scott Perry.
