Camperdown

Camperdown is a suburb of Sydney, Australia. It takes its name from the Battle of Camperdown (or Kamperduin in Dutch). It was named by William Bligh who received a grant of 240 acres of land covering present day Camperdown and parts of Newtown.

The land passed to Bligh's son in-law Maurice O'Connell, Commandant of the NSW Corps when Bligh returned to England.

Camperdown is home to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Sydney University.
