The Callitrichidae are one of the two (or three) families of New_World_monkeys. The other family that is widely recognised is the Cebidae; some authors recognise a third family (Callimicidae) that includes only the genus Callimico (Goeldi's monkey), which is therefore removed from the callitrichids.
The Callitrichidae include marmosets and tamarins.
