Bracket fungus

Bracket fungi are fungi notable for bearing mushrooms in a structure known as a "bracket". A bracket is a grouping of individual mushrooms that covers a tree in a close planar grouping comprised of separate or interconnected horizontal rows. Brackets can range from only a single row of a few mushrooms, to dozens of rows of mushrooms that can weigh several hundred pounds.

Some famous bracket fungi include the oyster mushroom and sulphur shelf.

Many types of bracket fungi are polypores.
