Bolivarianism

Bolivarianism is an international doctrine oftenly practiced in Latin America countries liberated by 19th century South American liberator Simon Bolivar.

People who call themselves bolivarianos follows Simon Bolivar ideology that is present in lots of texts like the Carta de Jamaica or the Discurso de Angostura and are also present in those countries folklore.

Some of the Bolivar's ideas range from the union of countries, public education and sovereignty to fight against strangers invasion (phisically, economically and politically) like Gran Colombia which was a block of countries integrated by Venezuela, Colombia, Panamá and Ecuador.

In politics, Bolivarianism is an ideology held by Venezuela's president Hugo Chávez who since it's first arrival to presidency called himself a bolivarian and started applying Bolivar ideals into every day affairs. That included the 1999 Constitution, which changed Venezuela's name to República Bolivariana de Venezuela and other ideas like the Bolivarian Schools, the Universidad Bolivariana de Venezuela and so on.

Although bolivarianism as a political ideology isn't well solid at this time, the term is oftenly used in Venezuela to refer to the Chávez supporters and their political ideology.
