Bitches Brew

Miles Davis' Bitches Brew, released in 1970, is one of the foremost albums in the genre of jazz fusion. Some even say that this album started the genre (although an equal claim could be made of Davis's In A Silent Way). By moving from acoustic instruments to electric instruments, such as the Moog synthesizer, and rejecting traditional song structure in favor of a more loose, improvisational style, Davis and his band changed jazz forever. The 2 LP/CD set contains extraordinarily long songs, or jams that were written on the spot. Instead of the formerly legato style of cool jazz, Bitches Brew favored dissonance.
