Battle of the Kasserine Pass

The Battle Kasserine Pass was a battle in World War II fought between the Germans and the Americans in the Kasserine Pass (a 2 mile wide gap in the Dorsal Chain of the Atlas Mountains) in central Tunesia. It took place on February 20th, 1943.

Starting on February 14, the Germans launched an highly successful offensive against the unprepared Americans. They reached the pass by the 20th, where the heaviest fighting took place, where they dealt the Americans a defeat. Their offensive continued on until February 23, when the Americans managed to hold their ground. By the end of February 25, the pass had been retaken, following very heavy American losses.
