Asymmetrical relationship
An Asymmetrical relationship is a relationship that is not symmetrical; that is, it has a definite direction that cannot be reversed without changing its meaning. For instance, if A is the child of B, it cannot be said that B is the child of A. Asymmetrical relationships are useful in defining hierarchies.
Generalizations: relationship
Specializations: hierarchical relationship
Involved in: hierarchy
Primary Domain: Interdisciplinarity
Other Potential Examples:
- authority relationship
- inheritance relationship
- power relationship
As I said on the page talk:Hierarchial relationship, I really think these sort of pages should be deleted. The only possible use I can see for this would be the topic of asymmetric or antisymmetric relations in mathematics, but most of this is just useless generalities. -- SJK
