American lager

North American lagers are mass-produced, thirst-quenching beverages from large breweries such as Anheuser-Busch. They are typically light in body and color, clean, crisp and aggressively carbonated. Flavors are subtle, with no one traditional beer ingredient dominating the others. Malt sweetness is light to mild. Bitterness, flavor and aroma from hops are negligible to very light. A slight fruitiness from esters may be present. The body is very light due to use of a high percentage of less-expensive adjuncts such as rice or corn.

Commercial examples include Budweiser, Miller High Life, Coors, Molson Golden, and Corona.

Based on the industry definition published by the Association of Brewers.
