Albion, Orleans County, New York

Albion is a town in and county seat of Orleans County, New York, United States, about 30 miles west north-west of Rochester, New York. The Erie Canal passed through the town. Albion is the center of the Medina sandstone industry, and lies in the midst of a good farming region, of which it is the principal shipping point, especially for appless, cabbages and beans. Albion was settled in 1812, was incorporated in 1823 and became the county seat in 1825. The population in 2000 was approximately 8,000.
