Adélard Godbout
Joseph-Adélard Godbout became Premier of Quebec after the retirement of Louis-Alexandre Taschereau. He was premier from June 27 to August 26, 1936. During the election in 1936, his Liberal party was defeated by the Union Nationale of Maurice Duplessis.Godbout returned to power in 1939. He is remembered for passing laws that gave Quebec women the right to vote, and that forced parents to send their children to school.
