Act of Supremacy 1536

The first Act of Supremacy was a 1536 Act of Parliament in England that confirmed the monarch - Henry VIII of England - as Supreme Head of the Church of England.

It was the final piece of legislation that separated the Church of England from Roman Catholisism, following the Pope's refusal over a period of years to annul Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon.
